This LJ is semi-friends. Fanworks, reviews/recommendations and general content can be viewed by everyone. Some personal content is friends-only. Please feel free to add me^-^~Fanfiction archive can be found here.
I've been posting on FB more than here, mainly becoz it's easier to do so from my phone and most of the stuff I post are personal things(ie photo spams of going out, food I ate, my babies, etc) I scroll down my FB feed, seeing the same kind of things my friends post and mindlessly click 'like, like, like'. I kind of miss LJ or even the older forums like mailing lists(I know, ages ago...) when people actually spend time writing their posts instead of just uploading random pics and then people actually spend time reading and writing a proper reply. Ah, yes, why am I complaining when I'm guilty of the same thing...?! *runs away*
This is old but I wanted to share this.
I don't know much about Taiji as by the time I got into X-Japan, X-Japan had already disbanded and Taiji became just the old bassist before Heath joined. But it shocked me when I heard of his suicide in 2011. I came across this translation of his autobiography. While it isn't the most detailed autobiography and much of it, I feel, has been glossed over, nevertheless it offered some glimpses into the troubled waters that was under X-Japan even when they were together and at the peak of their fame.
Here is the link to the translation of the book:http://www.seventhmoon.org/taiji/

Your theme is vampire!fic. Feel free to help yourself with the presence of the other band members in your fic if you think they will help your plot. You get to decide if both of Kai and Uruha are already vampires or just one of them is.( Read more...Collapse )
My LJ really needs a good clean up. Amidst feeding, changing nappies, entertaining babies, I shall do it these few days so this will return to mostly host jrock and yaoi fandom entries. Au revoir~
It's hard to find a yaoi movie, much less drama, that have some sort of a plot. That's why I am so happy to have come across this drama!(Photos taken from http://xiahdertod.exteen.com/)Life is Beautiful (2010)Cast:
Song Chang(Tae Sub), Lee Sang Woo(Kyung Soo)Episodes:
63(or was it 62?? Uh, bad memory)
Set in Jeju Island in Korea, this drama revolves around the romance between Tae Sub, a doctor, and Kyung Soo, a photographer. While Tae Sub have accepted his own homosexuality, he struggles to reveal that side of him to his family who increasingly pressures him to get married. Kyung Soo, on the other hand, had gone through it all - marriage, having a kid then divorce when his sexual preference was discovered but things are no easier as his mother insists that he returns to his 'normal life' and play the 'perfect husband and father'. The stigma of homosexuality in a conservative society like Korea's tests the strength of their love for each other and their determination to be together.Yaoi content:
certainly yaoi but quite mild stuff, suitable for family viewingGood points:
good acting for most parts, touches some difficult but very real issues, eye candy Kyung Soo, light hearted parts that made me smile and laughBad points
: not really bad points but just some bits I don't understand...like the 'falling down'(you'll get what I mean if you watch it), the odd drama time length(uh, 10 minute episodes then 40 minute episodesO__o)Overall:
whether you're a yaoi fan or not, I would certainly recommend this drama~Where to watch it:
I watched the whole series with English subtitles on Dailymotion, kindly uploaded by caprenne

Stepped on an icy patch while coming out of my car today. Fell onto my knee and bashed the side of my face against the pavement. Owwie;__; My eye and temple is all bruised now...*covers herself with blanket and self pity*
Slept 5-7am yesterday then noon-5pm...now it's nearly 6.30am and I haven't been able to sleep the whole night! Jet lag with holidays is ok...but I hate jet lag after working nights>.>;
I'm currently reading a Gazette fic that I absolutely love so I thought I'd share it with everyone.
It's a multichapter fic written by urulover_427
to commemorate Gazette's ten year anniversary. As the band becomes more successful, the very bonds that hold the members together start to unravel due to interpersonal tension and disagreement. When disbandment seems inevitable, a mysterious book appears and the members get transported to a world where they have no choice but to face their own personal issues and work together to fulfill their quest. The author perfectly manages to weave together real life and fantasy. That and well-written portrayals of each member with a mix of humour and angst thrown in, it is a damn good read. There is a touch of AoixUruha too(but I dunno what's gonna happen next...I'm still waiting for the next chapter!) If you haven't read it, I'd strongly recommend it~ You can read it here.
Don't forget to leave a comment^^
I am connected!! Yay for broadbandXDD! *dancing happily*
(I will start writing some meaningful entries soon, I promise=p)
Amidst having to find a new place to rent, finishing up my portfolio and doing my presentation on top of working full time, you may wonder how I found time to read a novel but I've always been good at distracting myself from important tasks...
Over the weekend, I was browsing Amazon and bought the daily bargain Kindle book entitled Snow Flower and the Secret Fan
by Lisa See for 99p.
It had been years(or over a decade) since I read historical Chinese women type literature(after reading too many of them in a succession, it became boring) but this was actually quite a good read. The book brings you back to the footbinding days of China, recounting the life story of a common farmer girl who married into a better life on account of her 'perfect gold lilies' and her friendship and love with another girl, her 'old same' whom for which destiny was much crueler. Through the book, even the happy times, there is a strong sense of melancholy, sadness and regret. It paints a window into the lives of women in this time, how their fate is linked to their 'eight characters', their family ties and their marriageability. For a modern woman, perhaps it is inconceivable to be expected to serve your husbands and your in-laws without question even if they treated you like dirt but in book, you can empathise with those women that had no choice but to conform when it is expected of society in those times. It is a poignant tale of women in China. Although the main character fared quite well, there is a deep emptiness that is relayed in her narration.
In my opinion, the storytelling was smooth with simple language. Some bits that are translated straight from Chinese may sounds funny(but really, that's how things are said in ChineseXD). There are one or two typos but nothing that would deter you from the story(or maybe it's just the kindle edition?).
The book does not focus heavily on political or historical events but the actual day-to-day practices and culture. If you enjoy reading about Chinese culture, I'd recommend this book. It helped me appreciate how much freedom and choice I have as a woman in a modern world(well...the downside is I have to work as hard as a man and still cook and have babies>.>; alright, enough whining!)
Anyone have any historical book recommendations^^?
To all my friends on LJ, just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year
~!*big hugs all around*
So what happened in 2011 for VM? Thinking back, it felt like an awfully long year. At the beginning of the year, I was still in the leafy suburbs of the countryside. Went for interviews and stuff and got offered a job in London which I was ecstatic about(kinda like...just gimme whatever job you have and I'll do it!). Quit my old job and was jobless for 3 months over summer. It was great not having to wake up and go to work, haha! Went to Dorset
to chill out. Returned to Malaysia to visit my parents. My hubby treated me to a seaside holiday
for my birthday^^ Came back to UK to start work(just as well since I was broke by this time-_-;). Looked for a house but the banks gave me a run-around and in the end, it didn't work out. A really stressful time. Decided to go for a short break to Prague
to de-stress. Then it was December and Christmas and I got into a spur of fanfic writing~!
All in all, I am happier now than I was this time last year and I think that counts for something. Of course there had been unhappy times and even worrying issues that continue to linger on without a solution in sightO_O...but let's pray for a better, healthier and happier 2012^__^! May the plot bunnies stay alive~!

Following their father's suggestion, Toshiya stays at Kaoru's apartment. One night, both intoxicated, they end up sleeping with each other. After coming to terms with what they've done and their complicated feelings, what will happen next? Will it all be calm seas? (VM's too sadistic to let it all end calmly now...XD)
